The Ontario Winter Games are set to kick off in Thunder Bay this weekend and CBC Thunder Bay’s Superior Morning will get the action started with a live broadcast at Lakehead University.
Come join us between 6 – 8:30 a.m. at the Lakehead University Fieldhouse Friday morning as we showcase some of our local athletes competing, and the people who’ve come together to make this happen.
We’ll hear from Diane Imrie to take a look back at winter games past.
We’ll check in with the local ringette community before the provincial athletes arrive to hit the ice
We’ll find out why badminton is on the rise in Thunder Bay and hear from one of our own athletes before they take the court.
It’s already been a landmark year for cross-country skiers in Thunder Bay, and we’ll hear how they’re preparing for the Ontario Winter Games.
If you’d like to join us for the show, please use the new entrance off of the big parking lot at the Lakehead University fieldhouse (the new part of the building is called the Wolf Den). We will be set up just past the reception desk. Address is 955 Sanders Dr.
We’ll continue our coverage throughout the day here on CBC.CA and the CBC News App, as well as Up North on CBC Radio One, and will bring you to the opening ceremonies at Fort William Historical Park.
Check back in with us throughout the weekend for ongoing coverage of all the action at the Ontario Winter Games.
