A STAY-AT-HOME mum has revealed that she started a side hustle to make some extra cash, and has now made over £10,000.
Mum of two, Rachel, began making earrings out of clay in 2021, as means of making some extra cash, whilst looking after her children.

To make the earrings she uses Sculpey polymer clay, which can be purchased online for as little as £2.
She dyes the clay with ink and then chops it up into tiny pieces.
Rachel then uses white acrylic paint to mix the tiny pieces together.
Then, she moulds them into a square shape before cutting out the shape of the earrings.

After this, she bakes them and sands them before glueing on the earring backs and putting them under a UV light for 10-20 minutes.
Rachel said that she makes her earrings whilst her children are napping, so is easily able to do it whilst still being a full time mum.
Are you taxed on side hustle earnings?
Plenty of households are taking on side hustles such as babysitting or setting up an eBay store to boost their earnings.
And luckily, you can use a “trading allowance” which means you don’t have to pay tax on any yearly gross income of £1,000 or less.
However, if you do earn over the £1,000 threshold, you will have to declare it to HMRC.
You can claim a trading allowance via Self-Assessment on the Government’s website.
First you need to inform them you’re a sole trader and tell them how much you earn in income, when you started and who you are.
HMRC will then send you a UTR number which you can use to submit a Self-Assessment tax return.
The tax year runs from April 6 to April 5 of the following year, and the deadline to pay is the following January 31.
After making her earrings, she sells them on Etsy, for around £30 a pair.
Her earrings come in all different colours and styles and she regularly creates new earring styles, meaning shoppers can purchase from her again and again
The stay-at-home mum has managed to sell a whopping 435 pairs of earrings on the online marketplace.
This means she will have made around £13,000 from her orders.
Rachel promotes her earring business on her TikTok channel, where she is known as @clayboulevard.
She also uses the channel to share helpful tutorials on earring making, to help out other people thinking of setting up their own small business.
TikTok users have flooded the comments section of Rachel’s videos, to share their thoughts on her small business.
One person said: “I’m a SAHM and I love doing this too”.
Another person said: “Always here for a crafty mama.
“Your earrings are so pretty”.
A third person added: “These earrings are amazing”.
