ModaMiami is a multi-day event celebrating world-class cars, culture, and the utmost in luxury experiences. Held at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables (Miami, Florida), over 150 of the world’s rarest cars were on display, from limited-edition hypercars to meticulous classic automobiles.
Among the highlights was Juan Manuel Fangio’s Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow (Mercedes-Benz W 196 R), one of the most significant and special grand prix cars ever to take to a Formula 1. It carried the Argentinean to victory at the 1955 Dutch Grand Prix, and a 2nd-place finish at Aintree. It rested on showfield next to Fangio’s personal Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, given to him by the manufacturer following his retirement from racing.
Six former Best of Show winning automobiles included a 1924 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8A Cabriolet by Worblaufen, a 1937 Mercedes 540 K Special Roadster by Sindelfingen, a 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ ‘Mormon Meteor,’ a 1932 Chrysler CH Imperial Speedster, a 1936 Lancia Astura ‘Tipo Bocca’ Cabriolet Series III by Pinin Farina, a 1932 Duesenberg Model J Sports Torpedo by Figoni, a 1932 Delage D8S Roadster by Devillars, and a 1932 Daimer Double Six 50 Drophead Coupe by Corsica.
The Shelby 101 class celebrated the life and legacy of Carroll Shelby. The Le Mans-winning driver and notable performance car maker left a legacy that’s still greatly admired and talked about to this day. As 2024 would have been Shelby’s 101st birthday, in honor of the man and his extraordinary talents, ModaMiami hosted a special collection of Shelby’s vehicles–from his driving days to his game-changing production endeavors.
Sundays event (March 3rd) will add 100 of the hottest specced supercars and hypercars (the Exclusive 100 Club) to the showfield.
Additionally, RM Sothebys held a two-day auction featuring many desirable blue-chip motor cars, with particular focus on the alluring ‘Youngtimer’ genre, sleek and unique modern-day supercars, and significant pre-war classics.
More photographs and event coverage to follow; for now, enjoy a pictoral overview of many automobiles in the event.
