Spencer Leniu’s bizarre challenge to the Broncos before a hotel confrontation has been revealed after Ezra Mam made a racial complaint against the Roosters prop.
Leniu has been sent straight to the judiciary by the NRL after Mam accused the forward of calling him a “monkey” in their Las Vegas clash.
Speaking to 9News Sydney post-game, Leniu described the incident as “banter”.

“You know it’s just a little bit of banter on the field and whatever he wants to do it with it he can come see me after it if he wants,” he said.
Asked if something had happened, Leniu didn’t give a definitive answer but said the Broncos players could sort it out with him in the hotel, with both clubs sharing accommodation.
“I don’t know, I don’t know, it was just all fun and games on the field, a bit of banter on the field,” he said.
“If they want to do anything we’re staying in the same hotel so I’m right there.”
Following the incident, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Broncos players Pat Carrigan and Kotoni Staggs confronted Leniu in the hotel post-match.
The report suggests Leniu and Staggs exchanged words before Carrigan and Mam walked out of the Broncos team room. A Roosters media manager reportedly led Leniu away before the tensions could escalate.

The altercation was reportedly not of a physical nature.
Leniu’s comments with 9News mirror what he said to Triple M post-match, describing it as “fun and games on the field”.
Proud Indigenous players Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker have since taken to Instagram to air their frustration.
“I stand with you Bala,” Mitchell wrote.
“NRL better deal with this shit.”
Walker also wrote “fun and games they reckon gammin (sic)” which accompanied Leniu’s interview with Triple M.
