Buses cancelled at 2 school divisions as winter storm cleanup continues | CBC News

At least two school divisions in southwestern Manitoba are cancelling bus service on Tuesday, as people continue to dig out from a winter storm that dumped snow across much of the region.

Schools will be open in the Park West School Division on Tuesday, but buses will be cancelled, the division said in an email late Monday.

The Rolling River School Division says its community schools will be open on Tuesday, but buses will be cancelled. Colony schools will be closed, the division added.

Both school divisions cited snowfall accumulation and road conditions for cancelling bus service.

The heavy snowfall began Sunday, and by Monday morning Brandon had received 22 to 29 centimetres, according to Environment Canada.

Other totals in southwestern Manitoba ranged from 21 to 25 centimetres. The Red River Valley area, including Winnipeg, saw totals of five to 12 centimetres, according to the weather agency.

Environment Canada says a snowfall warning remains in place for much of central Manitoba as of Monday evening, with strong winds and snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres in the forecast. The snowfall is expected to taper off Monday evening into Tuesday.
