WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Watervliet man, who was kidnapped at birth in Chile and adopted by a Capital Region couple, has completed the long journey to meet his biological family.
Ben Fruchter made the trip to Chile in February and met his biological siblings and father for the first time. The trip was made possible by the nonprofit group Connecting Roots.
Fruchter returned to the Capital Region and spoke to NEWS10 about the experience of meeting his birth family after 35 years.
“It was definitely a sense of relief that the search is no longer going on and that we don’t have to look very far and that now we have the opportunity to just make new memories,” he said.
Fruchter said he’s looking forward to making up for lost time and is grateful for the opportunity.
