A Fergus, Ont., man is facing charges of voyeurism and possession of child pornography after more than 200 videos of women in public places in London were secretly recorded, London police said.

The four-month-long investigation came about after police first got a search warrant to look at the 24-year-old’s phone for child pornography. London’s Digital Forensics Unit found alleged images, plus the videos of women.

“In addition to those, more than 200 voyeuristic videos were located featuring adult women, which appear to be recorded without the knowledge of the victims,” said Acting Sgt. Sandasha Bough with the London police.

Bough said the videos were filmed in various places, including clothing stores and fitness centres, but would not disclose where the videos were taken or if the women were clothed.

London police’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested the man Tuesday. He is charged with:

  • Two counts of voyeurism
  • Unlawfully possess child pornography.

The accused has been released from custody and will appear in London court on Aug. 30 in relation to the charges. The investigation is ongoing.
