BlueCo 22 the company which bought Chelsea FC and RC Strasbourg Alsace has publicly released its financial losses for the year in which the company was established.
The company was founded in 2022 when it was used by Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly to complete the purchase of Chelsea from Roman Abramovich. A year later, it was then used to buy almost 100% of the shares in Strasbourg.
However, for its first year in existence, BlueCo has been operating on significant financial losses totalling £653 million from the period of the 2nd of March 2022 until the 30th of June 2023.
Chelsea announce record turnover
This comes despite Chelsea announcing today a record turnover of £512.5 million buoyed by significant player sales, despite a loss to television revenue due to the failure to secure European football last season.
Despite companies generally operating at a loss in their first few years, this will still be a cause for concern for a Strasbourg fanbase that has never fully accepted its new owners and has been disgruntled by the continual feeling that they are being managed from London.
