SF Animal Care & Control announce full capacity, urges hopeful owners to adopt

[ad_1]

(KRON) — San Francisco Animal Care & Control’s dog shelter announced they werere at full capacity on Friday.

“There’s no easy fix for overcrowding,” said ACCSF on a Facebook post after explaining that some dogs cannot be fostered out due to legal matters. “We have no choice but to keep them here, safe and cared for.”

If owners are hospitalized, deceased, or victims of domestic violence, the ACCSF keeps their dogs sheltered until there is a safe place for them to go. “We’re a safety net,” ACCSF said. “We know that people would not want us to return animals to abusive or neglectful people to make space.”

The ACCSF works with over 100 adoption partners and rescue groups. Despite the collaborative nature of these shelters, they are just as crowded as they are, the ACCSF said.

“Overcrowding is a national problem, not just something we’re experiencing in the Bay Area. We are housing many dogs who are owned and here in our custody for various reasons. We also have wonderful dogs available for adoption if you have space in your home and your heart.”

Adoption fees at the ACCSF are currently waived for dogs over five months old.

The ACCSF advises the public to postpone surrendering their dogs as long as possible, “at least until Monday, March 11,” the ACCSF said.

You can find the dogs attempting to find their fur-ever homes here.
