Liverpool likely XI v Brighton after Nunez, Jones and Trent updates – Footymercato.com

Liverpool will welcome Brighton to Anfield in their first game after the international break on 31 March.

Jurgen Klopp will be eager for an emphatic Premier League victory after their last-gasp FA Cup loss to Man United in extra time on Sunday (17 March).

A win is needed to keep pace with league-leaders Arsenal and, in light of the latest injury news to the club’s star players, Football Insider has predicted the Reds’ starting line-up.

Goalkeeper & Defence

Caoimhin Kelleher, who has performed admirably in Alisson’s absence, will likely keep his spot in the starting XI behind a back four of Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Conor Bradley.

Darwin Nunez should start for Liverpool v Brighton

Alisson is expected back soon after the international break but the club have stopped short of suggesting a timeframe and he is unlikely to feature against the Seagulls.

Konate has missed the last three games for the Reds with a thigh issue but is set to be fit against Brighton having been called up for the senior France team by manager Didier Deschamps.

Robertson and Van Dijk are also likely to keep their spots in the starting line-up, while Bradley could return to the fold at right-back in place of Joe Gomez.

Midfield

Klopp will likely field his strongest available midfield against the Seagulls, meaning Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Dominik Szoboszlai may keep their spots.

The boss claimed on Friday (15 March) that there is a “chance” that Curtis Jones could be available for the clash, but he would likely only make the bench having been out with an ankle sprain since mid-February.

Attack

Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz are also highly likely to retain their places in the starting line-up at Anfield.

Nunez was withdrawn from international duty with Uruguay having picked up a hamstring injury against Man United, but sources have told Football Insider (20 March) that he is in line to be available for the Brighton game.

Diogo Jota is unlikely to be available but Klopp confirmed that he is closing in on a return after picking up a knee injury against Brentford last month (17 February).

Substitutes

Klopp claimed that Trent-Alexander Arnold may also be available after the international break and could return to the bench alongside Harvey Elliott, Cody Gapko, Joe Gomez and potentially Jones. The Brighton match is likely to come too soon for other key long-term absentees Jota and Alisson.
