Calling all readers: Great Big Book sale returns to St. John’s

CFUW’s annual fundraiser sells donated books to fund several scholarships

The Great Big Book Sale was a great big success once again this week in St. John’s.

The annual event hosted by the Canadian Federation of University Women raises money for their scholarship programs, as well as their donations to other community outreach services.

A wide range of donated books, DVDs, and CDs were on sale for low prices at an empty storefront in the Avalon Mall parking lot.

CFUW President Gillian Brown, chair of the book sale committee Joyce Noseworthy, and Daphne Lilly, who specializes in collectible books, explain the importance of the fundraiser to both their organization and the community at large.
