Sarina Wiegman has named a 23-player England squad for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifiers against Sweden and Republic of Ireland.

Wiegman has broadly stuck with the same squad which beat Austria and Italy in friendlies in February, with Leah Williamson back – having withdrawn from the squad for those games due to a hamstring injury.

Her replacement, Millie Turner however has kept her place in the squad with Turner’s Manchester United teammate, Maya Le Tissier dropped from the latest squad selection.

Mary Earps will again lead the line in goal with Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating retained as alternative goalkeepers.

Tottenham loanee, Grace Clinton has retained her midfield place alongside Fran Kirby, Jess Park, Georgia Stanway, Ella Toone and Keira Walsh.

Alessia Russo will once again head the forward selection alongside Arsenal teammate – Beth Mead, whilst Rachel Daly, Lauren Hemp, Lauren James and Chloe Kelly are once again in the team.

On her decision to opt for continuity, Wiegman explained: “There’s no time to waste. February’s window showed who we are and where we want to go and we’ll look to continue that momentum from the minute we arrive at St. George’s Park next week.”

England earlier this month were drawn into a tough Qualifying Group for the start of their title defence, in which they will play Sweden, Ireland and France with the top two teams in the group receiving automatic qualification for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

The third and fourth-placed teams meanwhile will go into the Qualifying Play-Offs this autumn.

Wiegman therefore appreciates the importance of the qualifiers this time around following a format revamp, as she continued: “We know it’s a challenging group, but it’s really exciting. These are all big games that will test us and that’s the kind of fixtures we want to play in.

“Every opponent we face is a top nation and we know we have to perform at our best to achieve our goals.”

Wiegman’s Lionesses will host Sweden at Wembley Stadium, London, on Friday 5 April at 8pm BST live on ITV1 in the UK, before visiting Ireland at Aviva Stadium, Dublin, at 7:30pm on Tuesday 9 April with ITV yet to confirm coverage details for the latter match.
