2025 Mini Cooper pricing confirmed for Australia
[ad_1]
The fifth-generation Mini Cooper range will arrive in Australia later this year, priced from $41,990 plus on-road costs in petrol guise and from $53,990 before on-roads for the electric versions according to database Redbook.
Base pricing for the 3-Door Hatch is up around $2700 compared to the previous generation for the base petrol variant, though the base price for the electric range has dropped by nearly $2000.
Cooper C models come with a 115kW/230Nm 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, good for a 7.7-second sprint from 0-100km/h. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT.
Cooper S models get bumped to a 150kW/300Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine which cuts the 0-100 time to 6.6 seconds. Drive is again sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT.
As for the electric range, there are two powertrain variants on offer.
The base Cooper E offers 135kW and 290Nm from an electric motor driving the front axle, fed by a 40.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Zero to 100km/h takes a claimed 7.3 seconds, and WLTP driving range is quoted at 305km.
The flagship Cooper SE ups power to 160kW and 330Nm for a 6.7-second dash to triple figures, while the li-ion battery gets a bump in capacity to 54.2kWh. Claimed WLTP range is 402km.
By comparison, the old Cooper SE offered 135kW/270Nm from its front-mounted e-motor and quoted a measly 222km on the older NEDC test cycle from its 32.6kWh li-ion battery.
Fun fact: Petrol versions of the new Mini Cooper are sourced from the UK, while the electric Cooper E and SE are built in China as part of a joint-venture with GWM.
The Cooper E and SE’s bespoke electric platform will also underpin the upcoming Mini Aceman.
While pricing and initial details have already been revealed, both petrol and electric versions of the new Mini Cooper aren’t expected to arrive in local showrooms until the third quarter of 2024.
