Vanspeed’s California Coast Van Has Everything You Need, And Then Some

  • Vanspeed just launched an updated California Coast design layout.
  • The van is aimed at those who want a weekend vehicle that can also hold sporting equipment.
  • Vanspeed says the conversion starts at just $65,000 but you’ll need to supply the 144” van.

Vanspeed’s recently updated California Coast layout design pays homage to its namesake. Built for those who want to enjoy the coast with all of their outdoor gear, it’s full of storage and luxury live-in features. Here’s a deep dive into one of the cushiest ways to spend a weekend in a van, hopefully, mere feet from the ocean.

The California Coast design layout has existed for some time, but this update gives it new appointments and amenities. The foundation starts with sound-deadening material, a 25-gallon fresh water tank, a six-gallon sink water tank, and a 2000w Xantrex inverter charger. Vanspeed also adds a 200-watt solar panel so that customers can live for a time off-grid so long as they have access to clean water.

The finished interior includes several LED interior lights, Baltic Birch plywood, Sunbrella Cushion upholstery, luxury vinyl flooring, and heavy-duty drawer slides. Really though, the heart of this van is its gear storage. Vanspeed wanted to focus on those who love surfing, biking, snowboarding, and more. As a result, there are clever storage spaces in and out of the California Coast.

Buyers can specify various racks and mounting features on the rear side, and roof of the van. In addition, the rear bed space doubles as a table but also hides a gear tunnel beneath it. An outdoor camp shower also comes standard and hangs off of the rear door. That should make cleaning gear that much easier.

“Obviously, the beach is a big point of interest for our clients, so designing a van made for the surf and sand that can be used hard and easily cleaned out is key. Vanspeed’s commitment to helping clients pursue their passion for travel and outdoor activities is what really drives us to make new designs like the California Coast,” says Vanspeed Duran Morley.

Notably, Vanspeed’s base price of $65,000 only covers the base conversion of a 144” High Roof Sprinter. That means you’ll have to bring your own van to enjoy this party. That’s also why Vanspeed doesn’t list specific mechanical specs for their vans as they’re built to order.
