Audi continues along an electrified luxury path.

As one of the most prominent names in automotive luxury, Audi has been one of the boldest trailblazers in the industry when it comes to electrification, introducing a rapidly expanding electrified lineup showcasing luxury, performance, and high-tech alike. With the first quarter of the year finished, Audi of America has reported its results, bringing in 44,226 new car sales through the quarter.

Unfortunately, this number represents a 16 percent decrease when compared to the same period last year, and various models throughout Audi’s lineup saw decreased sales throughout the period. However, that can’t be said for Audi’s electric vehicles, as Audi’s battery electric vehicle sales increased in the first quarter by a significant 29 percent compared to the same part of last year.

In addition, compared to last year’s first quarter, sales of the Audi R8 increased by 87%, as enthusiasts get their hands on the final examples of the legendary supercar as it sees its finale. Looking forward, however, the manufacturer is excited to introduce a new all-electric model, the Audi Q6 e-tron, built on an all-new Premium Platform Electric vehicle architecture. The new luxury electric SUV coupe has the important responsibility of not only introducing itself to the industry but also the platform it’s built on. As the winds of change continue to sweep across the entire automotive industry, Audi embraces them to not only preserve but evolve its status as a luxury automotive stalwart.
