BART service interrupted in East Contra Costa County

PITTSBURG — BART trains running in East Contra Costa County stopped early Wednesday in both directions after what the agency called a “wayside equipment problem.”
The service between Antioch and Pittsburg/Bay Point stations stopped around 4:45 a.m., according to a statement from the BART.
BART spokesperson Jim Allison said that an out-of-service train experienced a “minor derailment” that did not cause any injuries or any fuel spill. The rest of the BART system was working normally.
The Tri-Delta transit system was providing bus service between the stations. A parallel bus service on Tri Delta Bus 390 between the Antioch, Pittsburg Center and Pittsburg/Bay Point stations also was available, Allison said.
There was no information available on how long the train service would be down.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
