Bollywood Mega Star Amitabh Bachchan Checks Out Mumbai’s Coastal Road Tunnel: Instagrams Video
[ad_1]
One of the latest roads to open up in India was Mumbai’s Coastal Road Tunnel. What makes this road special is the fact that it is India’s first undersea tunnel. We’ve seen a lot of videos and reports related to the recently inaugurated tunnel. A new video has been posted by Bollywood’s Big B Amitabh Bachchan on Instagram, where he shares his experience of the newly inaugurated tunnel after using it for the first time.

The video was shared by Amitabh Bachchan on his Instagram profile. The actor was probably travelling with his son, actor Abhishek Bachchan. We can hear both of them having a conversation about the video in this clip. The actor posted the video with a caption, “Went first time in the TUNNEL – Enter before Haji Ali and out Halfway to Marine Drive .. a Marvel!!”
The interior of the SUV from which the video was recorded looks very Range Rover-like. We feel the actor was travelling in his white coloured current generation Range Rover SV LWB luxury SUV. The video doesn’t show the car entering the tunnel. It is quite possible that Amitabh was too excited about the thought of travelling in this tunnel that he forgot about recording a video when they entered.
The comment section under this video is also loaded with responses from his fans. There are comments trying to politicise this new tunnel, but we are not going to talk about them here. We have users who have written, “Only if one would know there’s THE Amitabh Bachchan in the car next to us.” Another user wanted to know about the car in which Amitabh Bachchan was travelling.
South Mumbai Coastal Road
Named the ‘Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road’ after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the South Mumbai Coastal Road was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on March 11. Construction of this road started in 2018, and it was built by L&T. The coastal road project spans 53 kilometers and is slated to extend from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link to Dahisar.
Only the first phase of this project is currently finished, and it stretches around 10.5 km. This newly built road has reduced the time from 40 minutes to just 9 minutes.
The newly opened coastal road offers convenient entry and exit points for motorists. The entry points will be on Worli Seaface, Haji Ali interchange, and Amarson’s interchange points, with exits at Marine Lines, particularly at the Princess Street Bridge. As mentioned in the video’s caption, Amitabh took entry from Haji Ali and exited the road at Marine Drive.
There are certain regulations put in place to use this road. The maximum speed limit is 80 kmph, and this is reduced to 60 kmph after you enter the tunnel. This is further reduced to 40 kmph at turning and exit points. Entry of heavy vehicles and pedestrians is completely prohibited for safety reasons.
Was a ‘tunnel-tourist’ today & checked out the newly minted undersea tunnel that’s part of the new coastal road in Mumbai!
Had been waiting to cruise down this and it was worth the wait…
Well done, @larsentoubro ! pic.twitter.com/GypOxDG9lB

Amitabh Bachchan is not the first person to have shared his experience about this modern marvel. Soon after the inauguration of the road, Anand Mahindra, Mahindra Group chairman, took a ride through the tunnel and shared a video. He even appreciated the engineering company Larsen and Toubro for the construction of this new tunnel.
