CEO of ChatGPT maker OpenAI Sam Altman has joined the club of billionaire people according to the Forbes report Monday, however, he is still way poorer than Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk.
Sam Altman rose to fame after generative artificial intelligence (AGI) Chabot made its way to the public in late 2022. He is reported to be on the 2,692nd position in the list.
Musk, who is also the founder of Neuralink and the Boring company, is worth $194 billion, according to Forbes.
The news outlet said that the 38-year-old CEO backed by Microsoft accumulated his wealth solely by investing in startups, including Reddit, which made its way to the New York stock exchange, and payments company Stripe, which is worth $65 billion.
The CEO of OpenAI also poured money into other ventures, such as nuclear energy company Helion and longevity startup Retro Biosciences.
His fortune included prime real estate in California and Hawaii, was estimated by public filings and investigative reporting, according to Forbes.
Since ChatGPT became widespread, it has posed a threat to other tech giants such as Google, Meta, and Microsoft, intimidating their respective product dominance.
Citing intense competition, Elon Musk also founded his own start-up xAI and incorporated it with the name Grok.
According to Altman, he does not own stakes in $80billion worth of Microsoft-backed OpenAI
