A 32-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder in the Tuesday morning shooting death of Edison Leslie Erskine in Winnipeg’s Spence neighbourhood.

Jordan Tyler Trachilis was arrested later the same day, police said in a news release on Wednesday.

Investigators believe Trachilis and Erskine, 46, became involved in an argument that led to the fatal shooting near Furby Street and Cumberland Avenue. The details of their relationship are still being examined, police said in the release.

Officers were patrolling around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday when they heard gunshots and found the wounded Erskine. The officers provided emergency care until an ambulance rushed him to hospital in critical condition.

Erskine was later pronounced dead.
