The Kitchener Rangers will hit the ice Thursday night in Game 1 of their second round playoff series, this time facing the London Knights.
The Rangers won their first series over the Erie Otters in six games. The final game Tuesday night saw the Rangers win in overtime.
Jussi Ahokas is head coach of the Rangers and says facing London is “going to be a great challenge for us.”
“If we play really well, we have a good chance to win but we really have to be really dialled in and when we’re dialled in it’s going to go well,” he told CBC News on Wednesday.
He said against Erie, the team’s depth helped the Rangers battle back for the wins and they played “a little bit of a stronger game than they did” but he gave the Otters credit.
“They played a heck of a series also, so it was a good junior playoff round,” Ahokas said.
He says the Rangers are ready for Thursday’s game and they’re in “game mode.”
“You have to be ready and play your best and have good confidence and all-in-all, be ready to play,” he said. “In playoffs, anything can happen.”
Tickets for the home games in the playoff series against the London Knights go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday. The first two games of the series will be in London.
