The search for a 64-year-old London man who went missing during an afternoon swim off of a boat in Lake Erie near Port Stanley last week continues.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery unit joined the effort over the Labour Day weekend. The search has covered approximately 120 km of Lake Erie since it began, focusing mostly on where the missing man was last seen, said OPP Constable Brett Phair.

The man was reported missing on Thursday afternoon, after the operator of a 25-foot sailing vessel reported that one of their passengers didn’t return from a swim in the lake.

“We want everyone to enjoy the water but be safe when they do it, so always wear a life jacket, especially when on large bodies of water,” Phair said.
