Officers were called to Crescent Road, Bognor, at around 10.45am on Saturday, September 9 to reports of an altercation in the street.
A man in his 60s suffered facial injuries in the incident.
Following enquiries, Ashley Pulleyblank, 33, of Glenelg Close, Bognor, was arrested and later charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault, criminal damage and assault of an emergency worker.
He appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (September 12) and was remanded in custody to next appear at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday, October 10.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has relevant video footage, is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting serial 539 of 09/09.”
