Watch: Alick Athanaze’s gravity-defying catch dismisses Ishan Kishan | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Taking stunning catches is becoming a new norm in modern day cricket with fielders exhibiting their great athleticism on the field to thwart batters’ efforts.

During the second ODI between India and West Indies in Barbados on Saturday, Alick Athanaze raised the bar by grabbing a gravity-defying catch to dismiss Ishan Kishan.

Kishan went for the cut off Romario Shepherd and what followed next frustrated the Indian opening Indian batter as Athanaze leapt to his right and plucked it with both hands at backward point.
Earlier, West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and put India in to bat in the second ODI of a three-match series.
India surprised everyone by resting regular captain Rohit Sharma and top batsman Virat Kohli as Hardik Pandya upgraded to skipper for this fixture.
Beaten by five wickets in the first match at the same venue on Thursday, West Indies dropped all-rounders Rovman Powell and Dominic Drakes and replaced them with middle-order batsman Keacy Carty and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph.
