ANGE POSTECOGLOU is proving popular in England not just for his style of play, and perhaps even more so because off his off-field demeanour.
The former Celtic manager made the switch to Tottenham Hotspur this summer and after five games has guided his new club to joint-second in the Premier League.
At a recent fan forum, the Aussie boss won the praise of footie fans across the board for his heartwarming response to one supporter at the end of a Q&A.
Just as host Nihal Arthanayake moved to wrap up the session, which also featured owner Daniel Levy plus mens and womens stars Son Heung-min and Bethany England, Postecoglou interjected to say there was time for one more question.
He had spotted a keen fan near the front who was desperate to ask the head coach a question.
Postecoglou said: “Hang on, one more question. This young man down the front. He’s got the best question. Come on.”
The supporter, Owen Bright, then said: “I have a question for Ange. How much are you going to win this season?”
The video clip has been shared widely on social media and one caption on TikTiok read “Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou might be the nicest man in football.”
Owen’s mum, Dee, who also chairs the SpursAbility supporters club, said on Twitter as she shared images of her soon meeting the boss: “Best day ever, according to Owen. I’m not going to argue!”
Fans were quick to applaud the 58-year-old for his actions.
“Bro why do I like him as an Arsenal fan?” said one rival supporter.
Another said: “Not a Spurs fan in the slightest. But god I hope he wins the league!”
Fans from both sides of the Old Firm also praised him.
“The man is just different class. We were incredibly lucky to have him at Celtic,” said one.
“I’m a Rangers fan but massive respect to him for being acknowledging and listening to the young fan,” said another.
While a Spurs supporter remarked: “Something about this man I absolutely love him and think we’re winning the league.”
Others simply commended the coach for showing his compassionate side.
One said: “Ange more than being a decent manager, is a decent human being.”
Another commented: “Did you see how happy he was? Awesome. Nice one Ange.”
A third said: “It’s the simple things that win over many people.”
Another punter called him a “top bloke”.
