The Indo-Japanese automotive giant, Toyota Kirloskar Motor India, recently launched its newest MPV, the Rumion. This MPV is another one of the products that has been created as a result of the collaboration between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki India Limited. This new MPV sits just below the Innova Crysta in the Toyota lineup and has been introduced to lure in more budget-conscious buyers into the Toyota family. Well, it has now been reported that the model has become hugely successful, and due to its overwhelming response, the company has had to halt reservations for it. The company has announced that momentarily it is pausing the reservations for the S-CNG variant of this popular MPV.
Announcing the pause for the Toyota Rumion bookings, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, in its official statement, said, “We are heartened to see the increasing inflow of enquiries and healthy bookings for the All-New Toyota Rumion. The long delivery time across variants, especially for the E-CNG option, has necessitated us to temporarily halt bookings of the E-CNG option, only to avoid customer inconvenience due to a longer waiting period. However, we continue to accept bookings for the petrol (NeoDrive) variants of the All-New Toyota Rumion.”
The company, in its statement, further added, “We appreciate our customers’ understanding as we work towards meeting the market demand in a timely and most suitable manner.” It was also stated by a company spokesperson that they will be continuously and regularly assessing the situation and doing their best to resume the order booking of the CNG variant of the Rumion at the earliest.
All-new Toyota Rumion MPV
Toyota Kirloskar Motor India launched the all-new Rumion MPV based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga back in August. The company launched the model with a starting price of Rs 10.29 lakh, and it goes up to Rs 13.68 lakh. Toyota is offering this badge-engineered model in 7 variants. Six of these seven variants are petrol models, and 1 is a CNG offering. Currently, the CNG variant is witnessing the most demand. This base S variant with the CNG kit has been priced at Rs 11.24 lakh. The S variant is the base variant of this MPV, which comes available with a manual transmission or can be had with an automatic transmission.
Next up on the lineup is the S MT variant that has been priced at Rs 10.29 lakh, while the S AT variant has been priced at Rs. 11.89 lakh. Additionally, the Rumion gets a middle G variant, which is only offered with a manual transmission. This variant has been priced at Rs 11.45 lakh. Lastly, there is the top-of-the-line V variant, which is being offered with the options of a manual and an automatic transmission. The manual V variant has been priced at Rs 12.18 lakh. Meanwhile, the V automatic transmission variant has been priced at Rs 13.68, making it the most expensive.
The Toyota Rumion gets the same 1.5-liter K-series petrol engine that is offered in the Ertiga. This engine comes equipped with Neo Drive (ISG) technology. This family MPV, like the Ertiga, offers an impressive fuel efficiency of 20.51 km/l, while the CNG variant, which comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit, offers a mileage of 26.11 km/kg. The transmission options include both a 5-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
