Subaru plans to reveal a special edition WRX TR at Subiefest in Florida
As the countdown clock continues, Subaru has dropped a second teaser image of the “sharper and more enthusiast-focused” WRX TR ahead of this weekend’s official reveal. This new photo provides a glimpse of the TR’s Recaro-branded front bucket seats. (Updated 10/2)
For the second time this year, Subaru plans to unveil a special version of a performance model at a Subiefest event. This time, the featured car will be the high-performance WRX TR, with Subiefest taking place in Florida.
The automaker has revealed little about the car so far but has teased us with a single photo of a fancy-looking wheel that obscures a red brake caliper. On the part, the letters B and O can be seen, suggesting that this model will benefit from Brembo high-performance brakes

Naturally, this reminds us of the Subaru BRZ tS, which was unveiled at the Subiefest California this past July. It also featured Brembo brakes (albeit without the Brembo branding), an STI-tuned suspension with Hitachi dampers, special 18-inch rims equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, and distinctive badging throughout.

Those appear to be a reasonable number of modifications for Subaru to apply to the WRX TR as well, though, of course, we’ll have to wait to find out for sure. Back in May, we spotted a WRX prototype fitted with what seem to be the same wheels and special brake calipers, but there were no other visible changes to the body.
Although Subaru has stated that it will not sell an STI version of this generation’s WRX in the U.S., it does offer one in Japan. Over there, the STI model doesn’t receive any powertrain enhancements, but it does come with larger brakes, Recaro front seats, unique stitching, carbon-look trim, and aluminum pedals. It doesn’t seem overly optimistic to hope for some of those modifications in this model, either.
Whatever Subaru has planned for the 2024 WRX TR will be revealed with the help of rally driver Travis Pastrana and skateboarder Bucky Lasek on October 7. Subiefest Florida takes place at Daytona International Speedway.
