Hangzhou Asian Games: Indian men and women’s chess teams clinch silver medals – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Indian men’s and women’s chess teams secured silver medals at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Saturday.
In a dominant final round performance, GM Harika Dronavalli, IM Vaishali Rameshbabu, IM Vantika Agrawal, and WGM Savitha Shri Baskar all emerged victorious in their games, defeating South Korea with a resounding 4-0 score, resulting in a total of 15 match points for the Indian women’s team.

The top-seeded Chinese team also triumphed in their last round match against the UAE with a 4-0 margin, clinching the gold with an impressive 17 out of 18 match points.
The Indian men concluded their campaign on a high note with a 3.5-0.5 victory against the Philippines.

Top-seeded players Arjun Erigaisi, D Gukesh, Vidit Gujrathi, and Harikrishna Pentala all emerged victorious in their respective matches against their Filipino counterparts.
R Praggnanandhaa, who drew his game, helped secure the second position for the Indian men’s team, just behind the gold-winning Iranian team.
