Nissan is gearing up to introduce the Magnite AMT to the Indian market, and the good news is that it comes with an attractive starting price. Dealers are already accepting bookings for this new offering, and it’s poised to shake up the segment by undercutting rivals like the Punch and Exter AMTs, which belong to a lower segment.
Sources suggest that the Nissan Magnite AMT will be priced approximately Rs 50,000-60,000 higher than its manual counterpart. This translates to a starting price of around Rs 6.5 lakh. In comparison, the entry-level Adventure AMT variant of the Punch starts at Rs 7.5 lakh, while the Exter AMT kicks off at Rs 8.09 lakh.

While the Punch and Exter may have larger 1.2-litre engines, the Magnite holds its own with a 1.0-litre powerplant. Although it may seem smaller in displacement, it’s worth noting that the 1.0-litre unit in the Magnite delivers a commendable 98.63bhp and a torque of 152Nm, providing peppy performance and excellent efficiency. While the Punch and Exter generate 88hp and 83hp, respectively, their torque figures stand at 115Nm and 114Nm. Thus, the Magnite outshines its rivals in power and torque.
Nissan will offer the Magnite AMT in four variants: XE, XM, XV, and XV Premium. However, it’s important to note that the Magnite may have slightly fewer features compared to its competitors, the Punch and Exter.
Both the Punch and Exter have gained immense popularity in the market, resulting in extended waiting periods for eager customers. With its competitive AMT pricing, Nissan aims to carve out a niche for itself in the automatic sub-compact SUV segment. Additionally, the Magnite boasts a larger four-meter frame, providing an attractive alternative to those seeking more space and a potentially shorter waiting period.
For buyers considering the Nissan Magnite, it’s worth noting that the base model starts at Rs. 6.00 lakh (ex-showroom), with the top model reaching Rs. 10.86 lakh (ex-showroom). The Magnite AMT, with its affordable pricing and automatic convenience, is set to make a strong statement in India’s SUV market, offering a compelling choice for those seeking affordability, versatility, and powerful performance in their vehicles. Furthermore, with impressive features such as a spacious 336-liter boot space, a ground clearance of 205 mm, and a mileage of 20 Kmpl from its 3-cylinder turbo engine, the Magnite is well-equipped to meet the demands of Indian car enthusiasts. Front disc brakes and rear drum brakes ensure reliable stopping power, making the Magnite a complete package for both urban and adventurous driving experiences.
