Emergency services rushed to Linacre Road in Thornhill at around 7pm on Sunday, July 9, following reports of a stabbing.
The 14-year-old was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to the back.
After the stabbing, residents were left struggling to comprehend what had happened and police carried out a section 60 order over swathes of Southampton and surrounding areas, including Hedge End, giving them powers to stop and search anyone.
A 35-year-old man who lives on Linacre Road, and who did not want to be named, told the Echo at the time: “Kids used to be able to play outside but you’re fearful of letting them go outside now.”
He added: “This place is quite lawless, it’s not the first time something has happened in the area. I know police have extra stop and search powers, but that’s only for 24 hours.”
