The Thunder Bay Police Service has withdrawn misconduct charges under the Police Service Act against three of its officers.
“Those matters have been resolved, and as a result the Police Service Act charges have been resolved,” Scott Paradis, a spokesperson for the Thunder Bay Police Service, wrote in an email Tuesday.
Staff Sgt. Shawn Harrison, Sgt. Justin Dubuc and Const. Colin Woods were served the charges for allegedly harassing another sworn member of the police service through “rumours, public discrediting, and character assassination and ostracization.”
Those allegations were never tested in a public hearing and the details of the resolution will not be made public, Paradis said.
The news of the charges being withdrawn was first reported by local media outlet TBNewswatch.
The disciplinary charges were filed during a time of turmoil for the Thunder Bay Police Service and its oversight board, which faced a number of human rights complaints, external investigations, and while the former police chief was herself suspended over her own misconduct allegations.
