New lease of life for historic hotel as development nears completion

[ad_1]

New Care, a care company owned by McGoff Group, received planning permission for the transformation of Egerton House some four years ago.

Built in the 1860s, the historic hotel on Blackburn Road was renowned for its weddings. Although it is not listed, it is a local landmark of interest for features such as its front facade and its windows, all of which are to be restored to their original appearance and original style through the creation of a care home called Egerton Manor.

It closed in 2014, causing the loss of a number of roles and the rearrangement of a number of weddings, after which it became a target for vandalism and what one councillor for Bromley Cross, Samantha Connor, described as a “wasteland”.

Now the aim is for it to be renowned for the care it provides for it residents, including those with complex conditions such as dementia, with a focus on the activities and the events it provides for them.

All of the work on the exterior is complete allowing the construction team to work on the interior, which includes 64 en-suite bedrooms, accessible bathrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, gardens and additions such as a hair salon and a nail salon.

The Bolton News:

Dawn Collett, Commissioning Director at New Care, said: “Work at Egerton is progressing well. We are now less than one month away from completion and it is exciting to see the building taking shape.

“Our care facility is designed to offer outstanding care in a comfortable and stylish environment and we are already starting to recruit the 100-strong team and to take enquiries from our first residents.”

The site is set to open before the end of the year.  For information contact enquiries@newcarehomes.com or go to newcarehomes.com.
