The Honda Prelude is back, new concept previews Honda’s future – The Torque Report

[ad_1]

We’ve missed the Honda Prelude since it left Honda’s lineup in 2001. Now it looks like it might be coming back, since Honda has unveiled the Prelude concept at the Japan Mobility Show, formally known as the Tokyo Motor Show.

Just two months ago it was discovered that Honda had applied to trademark the “Prelude” name in the U.S. Last year Honda also told us that it is working on at least two electric cars, which were covered. We now know what one of them looks like with the debut of the new Prelude concept.

Honda has dubbed the Prelude concept as the “specialty sports model, and the word “prelude” means an “introductory or preceding performance.” Honda says that the Prelude concept will “become the prelude for our future models which will inherit the “joy of driving” into the full-fledged electrified future and embody Honda’s unalterable sports mindset.” Honda stopped short of confirming if the Prelude concept is going to enter production.

Honestly it’s nice to see that Honda is ready to introduce a new two-door sports car, since it hasn’t had one since the S2000 left. Just in case you’re wondering what the other model that was previewed last year, it’s expected to be the next-generation Acura NSX.
