OAKLAND — Two men were shot Tuesday afternoon at an East Oakland homeless camp, authorities said.
Both men were reported to be in stable condition Tuesday morning. One of the men was shot twice.
The shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the camp, which is in the area of East 8th Street and Alameda Avenue.
One of the men, a 45-year-old Oakland resident, told police he was at the camp to visit someone when he first heard a dispute, then gunfire, and realized he had been shot in the hip and wrist. He was found on the pavement and after medical treatment at the scene was taken to a hospital.
The second victim, a 39-year-old man who authorities said has a Pittsburg address, was shot in the leg and got a ride from the camp to a hospital from another person.
Police are trying to determine whether the man was an intended target or was also hit by a stray bullet.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call investigators at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
