Senators centre Shane Pinto suspended for 41 games by NHL

[ad_1]

Ottawa Senators free agent centre Shane Pinto will be suspended 41 games for activities related to sports wagering, according to reports.

TSN Hockey Insiders Darren Dreger and Pierre LeBrun first reported the suspension just after 11 a.m. An official announcement from the National Hockey League is expected later today.

Postmedia hockey columnist Bruce Garrioch quotes sources as saying the NHL statement will say Pinto didn’t bet on hockey.

Pinto, a restricted free agent, missed the Senators first six games of the season while continuing contract negotiations with the club. The 22-year-old centre scored 20 goals and added 35 points last season.

Garrioch reported the Senators rescinded all previous contract offers to Pinto.
