The premium MPV from the South Korean automaker Kia is a popular choice among people who love being driven around. Earlier this year at the Auto Expo 2023, Kia India showcased the KA4 premium MPV in India, and it was believed that it would be coming to India. However, 9 months later, the company has now revealed a new facelift of the Carnival MPV in Australia. It is believed that the company could be offering this new facelift next year in India as well.
Kia Carnival facelift unveiled in Australia
As mentioned above, this brand-new facelifted model has been showcased in Australia. However, the first unveiling of this new variant took place in the brand’s home country of South Korea. It has been reported that this new model will be launched in Australia in the first quarter of 2024. Presently, reservations in the Australian market have been halted, which will most likely be resumed with the updated model. As for the pricing in the Australian market, it could be launched with a starting price of $52,000.

Will it come to India?
As mentioned above, back in January of this year at the Auto Expo 2023, Kia India showcased the KA4 premium MPV. It was believed that the model would be replacing the outgoing Carnival in India. However, it has now been reported that the company will be launching this facelifted model in India instead of the KA4. Most likely, it will command a premium over the outgoing Kia Carnival’s pricing of Rs 30 lakh. Now when exactly this model could be launched in India is currently unknown, and we will have to wait for that to be revealed in the coming months.
What’s new with the 2024 Carnival facelift?
From the pictures released of the brand new Kia Carnival facelift, it can be noted that it has undergone a massive design update. The MPV this time around has taken its inspiration from the Kia EV9 electric SUV concept and the newly launched Kia Seltos mid-size SUV. The front fascia features a reshaped grille and vertically-stacked all-LED headlights and a massive grille at the front.
Coming to the side profile of this new premium MPV, it gets two new designs of alloy wheels. The first is an 18-inch alloy wheel set, and the other is a 19-inch set. Other than that, the side profile does not get a lot of changes. Moving on to the rear of this new premium MPV, it can be noted that the rear taillights look very much inspired by the new Seltos facelift and other global Kia models.
Interior updates
As for the changes on the interior of this new MPV, the company at the moment has not released any pictures. The interior image shown is from Kia Sorento, which is one of the brand’s flagship SUVs in the international market. Most likely, the new interior will feature dual 12.3-inch curved screens seen in Kia’s latest models. Additionally, this new MPV will come equipped with the company’s latest ‘ccNC’ infotainment software with over-the-air updates.
Powertrain options
Currently, the drivetrain information on this new facelifted model has been kept a secret. However, reports have stated that the model in the South Korean market will be offered with choices between petrol, diesel, and hybrid models. It has also been stated that the new hybrid powertrain will combine a 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder with an electric motor, with an expected output of 169 kW.
Presently, the Kia Carnival has been discontinued in India. However, prior to its discontinuation, it only came offered with a diesel engine. The 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine generated a maximum of 197 Bhp and 440 Nm of peak torque. It was available with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.
