Verification of stock of all rice mills must be done by the Government: Kumari Selja – Times of India

She said that due to the coalition government of the BJP and JJP, rice millers have committed large-scale frauds, worth millions, in the procurement of paddy.
“They have procured cheap rice from Uttar Pradesh and filled their warehouses while not paying the market fee to the state government. In this fraud, some officers associated with purchase agencies are also involved. In this regard, the physical verification of all millers should be done so that the truth can come to light. How can the government, which talks about a corruption-free administration, overlook such scams,” she questioned.
Selja said that a fraud of nearly Rs5. 5 crores has been reported in the mandi of Cheeka, which is not new. Such complaints are also continuously coming from the mandis of Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, and Yamunanagar districts. Similar allegations are being made in these complaints, which have come to light in the investigation of the marketing board. This is not the first time; it happens every year, but with no solid action, such fraud is increasing. She said that because no strict action is taken against the millers involved, their spirits are high and they commit even bigger frauds compared to before. Whenever the paddy procurement season comes, fraud is committed on a large scale, and it happens every time, she said that there should have been an investigation, but to date, no investigation has been conducted.
She said that if the government is standing with the truth and wants to take action against corrupt people, it should get the physical verification of the stocks of all rice mills done, so the government will know where the rice is coming from, who is buying it, and how the marketing board is embezzling crores of rupees in the name of fees. The truth is that in this government, nothing has happened except for scams. Such scams cannot happen without any protection. This corrupt government will be taught a lesson by the people because, in a democracy, the people are the most powerful.
