Two men are in custody charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter in connection with a shooting in Saskatoon in 2006.
Darren Fredrick Greschuk, 31, died after getting shot by an intruder in his Avenue J home on July 8, 2006. Greschuk was able to call police after the shooting but he died in hospital two weeks later.
According to police, Greschuk phoned about the shooting early in the morning on July 8.
He said he and his wife had been sleeping in their home on Avenue J South on the city’s west side when a male with a gun entered their home and demanded money.
Greschuk’s wife managed to escape and hide until police arrived.
This week, police charged a 48-year-old British Columbia man with second-degree murder and a 45-year-old Saskatoon man with manslaughter.
The 48-year-old man was arrested in Penticton, B.C. last week and then moved back to Saskatchewan. The 45-year-old man was arrested yesterday in Saskatoon by members of Patrol.
