Japan’s GPIF posts $4.5 billion investment loss in Q2

TOKYO : Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) reported on Thursday an investment loss of 683.2 billion yen ($4.54 billion) in July-September, its first negative return in three quarters.

The world’s largest pension fund lost 0.31 per cent for the three months, trimming its overall assets to 219.3 trillion yen, it said in a statement.
