[ad_1]

Fresh from their EFL Cup fourth-round exit in midweek, Burnley is determined to turn their fortunes around when they host Crystal Palace at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday.

These two teams are meeting in the top flight for the first time since their 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park in February last year.

Match Preview

Burnley’s manager, Vincent Kompany, had hoped that their 2-1 win against Luton Town at the beginning of October would kickstart a positive run of form.

However, the Clarets have suffered a four-game losing streak, including a 2-1 loss at Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend and a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Everton in the EFL Cup fourth round on Wednesday.

James Tarkowski, a former Burnley player, haunted his old club with a goal against them.

This cup exit could be seen as an opportunity for Burnley to focus on climbing out of the Premier League relegation zone.

They’ve only accumulated four points in their first ten games and are currently 19th in the table, two points adrift of safety.

Burnley’s home form has been a concern, with five consecutive Premier League home losses this season.

Another loss on Saturday would make them the first English top-flight team to lose their first six home matches in a campaign.

Crystal Palace had an impressive 1-0 win at Manchester United at the end of September.

Still, they couldn’t secure a win in any of their three Premier League games in October, only earning one point from a possible nine.

They faced tough opponents like Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in their last two matches, suffering defeats in both games.

Crystal Palace’s manager, Roy Hodgson, has seen his side slip to 13th in the table, although they are still seven points clear of the drop zone.

Head-to-Head Statistics:

Crystal Palace hasn’t won any of their last five meetings with Burnley.

However, they have picked up seven points from their last four top-flight visits to Turf Moor, scoring at least twice in three of those trips.

Team News:

Burnley’s midfielder Josh Cullen is suspended for one match due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

Michael Obafemi and Hjalmar Ekdal are sidelined with injuries.

Lyle Foster is doubtful due to illness, and Jordan Beyer and Manuel Benson will be assessed ahead of kickoff.

Crystal Palace’s star attackers, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, are expected to return to action before the international break after recovering from hamstring injuries.

Dean Henderson, James Tomkins, and Nathan Ferguson are still in the treatment room. Tyrick Mitchell is fit to feature in the defense.

Predicted Lineups:

Burnley:

  • Trafford;
  • Roberts, Al-Dakhil, O’Shea, Taylor;
  • Brownhill, Berge, Gudmundsson;
  • Tresor, Amdouni, Koleosho

Crystal Palace:

  • Johnstone;
  • Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell;
  • Hughes, Doucoure, Lerma;
  • Ayew, Edouard, Franca

Prediction:

We predict a 2-1 victory for Crystal Palace over Burnley. Both teams are in need of points, but Crystal Palace’s attack may exploit Burnley’s defensive vulnerabilities.
