SAN DIEGO — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred outside a Home Depot in the Ocean View Hills neighborhood.

According to authorities, several calls came in shortly after 10:30 a.m. reporting shots fired in the parking lot, which is located at 930 Dennery Rd.

“When officers arrived there were conflicting reports of four vehicles involved in a shooting,” said Officer Arturo Swadener, Watch Commander for the San Diego Police Department.

One witness account reported an altercation between started inside the Home Depot, and another claimed it started as road rage incident. Neither have been verified at this time, SDPD told FOX 5.

Officers were able to establish that a 29-year-old man and 14-year-old boy were both suffering from non-life threating gunshot wounds. The juvenile was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital, and the adult victim was transported to a local trauma center.

SDPD said the juvenile was shot once in the leg and also suffered a graze would to his hand, while the adult victim was also shot in the leg as well as the arm.

“So what we know so far is there was some sort of altercation between the victim group, the 29-year-old and 14-year-old, and a group of three to five Hispanic males that spilled out to the parking lot,” said Swadener. “Once in the parking lot, at least one gun was branded and shot were fired. Two victims were hit and the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel at this point.”

There are varying reports of suspect vehicles, but police say those have not been confirmed yet.

There was a vehicle involved that appeared damaged in the parking lot. Police say it reportedly belonged to the girlfriend of one of the victims, who showed up to the scene after the incident.

“We don’t know if they crashed, we don’t know if they crashed into each other or if it started as a road rage and lead to here,” Swadener continued. “We are still very early on in the investigation.”

Police are working to gather more information. This is not an active shooter situation, SDPD told FOX 5.
