Arsenal’s impressive Premier League unbeaten run has come to an end, and they are now back in Champions League action, hosting Sevilla at the Emirates for a Group B showdown on Wednesday.
The Gunners clinched a 2-1 victory over the Europa League champions two weeks ago, and a consecutive win against the Spanish side could potentially secure their place in the knockout rounds with two games to spare.
Match Preview
Mikel Arteta, like many of his Premier League predecessors, expressed his dissatisfaction with officiating after his team’s 11-game unbeaten streak in the top flight came to a painful end.
The Gunners’ defeat to Newcastle United saw contentious decisions, and Arteta’s fiery post-game press conference criticized the refereeing standards.
Despite this, Arsenal sits at the top of their Champions League group with six points, one ahead of Lens and four clear of both PSV Eindhoven and upcoming opponents Sevilla.
They are on the verge of securing a last-16 berth, pending a Lens victory over PSV coupled with a win over Sevilla.
In their previous encounter, Gabriel Jesus’s brilliance and a sublime pass set up Gabriel Martinelli to give Arsenal the lead.
Failure to control Jesus in the second half allowed him to double the Gunners’ lead. Nemanja Gudelj scored for Sevilla, but it wasn’t enough for a comeback.
Sevilla has yet to secure a win in top-tier European competition this season, and they are narrowly holding off PSV Eindhoven for a place in the Europa League.
Sevilla’s Champions League away record shows six draws and two losses in their last eight games on the road, with their previous visit to the Emirates in 2007 ending in a 3-0 defeat.

Team News
Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard did not make the squad due to a hip problem following his EFL Cup appearance.
Thomas Partey (muscle), Emile Smith Rowe (knee), Jurrien Timber (knee), and matchday three hero Jesus (hamstring) are sidelined, leaving Arteta with a thinner squad.
Sevilla navigated their draw against Celta Vigo without Sergio Ramos (calf) and Fernando (back).
They could recover in time for the match, while backup goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic is available again after a finger sprain.
However, Marcao (adductor) and Alfonso Pastor (knee) are unavailable.
Predicted Lineups
Arsenal possible starting lineup:

Prediction
Despite some key absences, Arsenal is favored to win this contest, especially considering Sevilla’s struggles in European competition this season.
Arteta’s team is likely to face some challenges, but they should have what it takes to secure a close 1-0 victory and possibly advance to the knockout rounds.
