Hamilton police have asked Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation to review the driver’s license of a 91-year-old man who hit a pedestrian on Fennell Avenue East last week.

Hamilton police have asked Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation to review the driver’s license of a 91-year-old man who hit a pedestrian on Fennell Avenue East last week.
The driver, who was in an SUV, hit a 77-year-old man who was crossing the street on July 25. The man died the following day in hospital.
Police told CBC Hamilton that they have not laid charges in the case but are still investigating. Const. Indy Bharaj said Monday that police have requested that the ministry “review” the driver’s license.
That review could lead to a license suspension or asking the driver to undergo a series of tests, said ministry spokesperson Tanya Blazina on Tuesday.
“The Ministry of Transportation relies on police enforcement to report collisions and incidents and will take necessary action if required or if there is a suggestion that an individual’s driver’s licence be reviewed,” she said in an email.
The collision happened on Fennell, west of Upper Wellington Street, at about 10:20 a.m. July 25. The SUV driver was not injured.
