Pacific Lutheran blows past rival Puget Sound to finish season

TACOMA — Pacific Lutheran rushed for 269 yards and six touchdowns in a 42-7 blowout of crosstown rival Puget Sound on Saturday to close out the season.

Raysen Motoyama ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns for the Lutes (5-5, 4-3 Northwest Conference). Jacob Schuh had 78 yards and two TDs, and quarterback Darius Chaffin ran for 83 yards and another score.

The host Loggers (3-6, 2-5 NWC) were held to 14 rushing yards on 16 carries. Mason Binning passed for 245 yards, and UPS got its only touchdown on a 2-yard run by Henry Hernandez.

Montana State routs EWU

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Sean Chambers threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Montana State coasted to a 57-14 win over Eastern Washington.

After punting on their first possession, the Bobcats (8-2, 6-1 Big Sky Conference) scored on their next six drives to lead 41-7 at halftime. The Bobcats finished with 551 yards, 276 passing and 275 rushing.

Kekoa Vispers was 27-of-36 passing for 329 yards for the Eagles (4-6, 3-4) with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

AT TEX. PERMIAN BASIN 42, CENTRAL WASHINGTON 14

The Wildcats (7-3, 7-1) fell to the Falcons (10-1, 8-0) in the Lone Star Conference championship game in Midland, Texas. Kennedy McGill passed for 148 yards and one touchdown for Central. Zach Matlock had three catches for 62 yards, while Darius Morrison had three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. McGill led the rushing attack with 64 yards, while Tyler Flanagan ran for 60 yards and a touchdown.

WHITWORTH 28, AT LINFIELD 24

Trailing 24-14 entering the fourth quarter, Whitworth rallied to beat fourth-ranked Linfield in a battle of undefeated Northwest Conference teams in McMinnville, Ore.

The Bucs will find out Sunday when and where they will open the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Austin Ewing completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Evan Liggett with 29 seconds to play to complete a 75-yard, 14-play drive. Ewing completed 37 of 52 passes for 338 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a score but had to survive three interceptions. Dillon Kuk caught 12 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown. The pair led Whitworth (9-0, 7-0) to only its second win at Linfield (8-1, 6-1) and first since 2018.
