The NBA is looking into allegations that Australian NBA star Josh Giddey had an improper relationship with an underage girl, a league spokesperson told ESPN.

The allegations surfaced on social media earlier this week when images of the Oklahoma City player went viral.

Giddey turned his comments off on Instagram shortly after. Speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s clash with the Philadelphia 76ers, Giddey, 21, declined to comment.

“I understand the question obviously, but there’s no further comment right now,” Giddey told reporters when asked about the allegations.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault also refused to elaborate on the issue.

“Personal matter, and I have no comment on it,” Daigneault told reporters. “And that’ll be my comment on anything related.”

Both ESPN and The Athletic reported on Saturday morning (AEDT) that the NBA was looking into the allegations.

Giddey, the No. 6 pick in the 2021 draft, is averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game this year, with the Thunder 11-4.

Oklahoma City is scheduled to face the 76ers on Sunday morning (AEDT).
