The country’s third-largest carmaker, Hyundai Motor India Limited, recently made a huge announcement. The company has announced that all Hyundai India cars from now on will come available with 6 airbags as standard. This includes all 13 models across all their variants. Hyundai India has also announced that it will be voluntarily offering three of its cars for crash testing by the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP).

We are not just a provider of smart mobility solutions, but also safer mobility solutions. HMIL will continue to spearhead efforts in raising vehicular safety standards in India, thus making Indian roads safer for all.”

The company shared the key safety enhancement initiatives taken by them from the beginning of 2023. It stated that in January of this year, it launched the Ioniq 5 with six airbags and level 2 ADAS. At the same time, it also started offering the Grand i10 Nios and Aura with 4 airbags as standard. Next up in February, the company started offering the mid-size SUV Creta and Alcazar with six airbags.

Following this, the company in March of this year launched the new Verna facelift with 6 airbags and level 2 ADAS. After this, in April, Hyundai provided all of its models across all variants with standard three-point seatbelts and seat belt reminders. In July, the micro-SUV Exter was launched with 6 airbags and an inbuilt dashcam. Next up in August, Venue sub-compact SUV became the first car in the segment to receive ADAS.

Lastly, earlier in September, the new premium hatchback i20 facelift was launched with 6 airbags as standard. It also came with ESC and HAC. Now with the recent announcement, Hyundai Motor India Limited has become the first-ever carmaker in India to offer all of its models across all its variants with six airbags as standard.

In addition to this news, the company also announced that it will be offering three of its models from the lineup for crash testing by BNCAP. The Bharat New Car Assessment Program will be testing the three cars voluntarily offered by the company. Following this, after the assessment, the program administrators will be providing the cars with ratings for testing. Now which exact models the company is voluntarily offering have not been revealed yet.

2023 Hyundai Verna facelift scores 5 stars in the global NCAP

The company reported that its new fourth-generation Hyundai Verna managed to score an impressive 28.18 points out of a total of 34 points. With these points, it managed to score full five stars in the Global NCAP, making it the first Hyundai vehicle ever produced in India to receive this rating in the Global NCAP crash testing. The Hyundai Verna is one of the final few vehicles to get a five-star rating in the Global NCAP “Safer Cars For India” program, which will shortly be replaced by Bharat NCAP.
