BMW has unveiled the all-new 2024 BMW X2, the second generation of the company’s smallest Sports Activity Coupe.

As a BMW SAC (Sports Activity Coupe), the all-new 2024 BMW X2 continues the tradition of pushing the design envelope featuring a more steeply raked windshield, higher beltline, and smaller greenhouse, giving the vehicle a more coupe-like styling than its X1 counterpart. A more pronounced kidney grille with optional illumination can be found at the front, while beefier wheel arches and more prominent haunches dominate the side view. The rear features a new Gurney-style spoiler that actually generates additional downforce and a pair of uniquely shaped LED taillights.

Customers will be able to choose from 13 paint finishes, including new Vegas Red metallic. Additional colors will be available through the BMW Individual program. Wheels of up to 21 inches will also be available, the largest ever offered on a BMW compact.

Dimensionally speaking, the all-new 2024 BMW X2 has had a bit of a growth spurt, gaining 7.6 inches in length (up to 179.8 inches), 0.8 inches in width (up to 72.6 inches), and 2.6 inches in height (up to 62.6 inches).

All US models of the all-new 2024 BMW X2 will feature AWD, 7-speed DCT transmission, and a mechanical limited-slip differential for the front wheels. In terms of suspension and chassis, BMW has promised both improved driving dynamics and comfort. The all-new 2024 BMW X2 will be available in two guises: the X2 xDrive28i with the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder found in the X1 delivering 241 hp, as well as the X2 M35i xDrive, which shares its engine with the X1 M35i. This powerplant will produce 312 hp, allowing the 2024 BMX X2 M35i to achieve a 5.2 second 0-60 time. BMW also showed an electric version dubbed iX2, though this model will not make it to the US.

Customers will find an interior mostly shared with the BMW X1, a good thing considering the amount of praise it’s received. Differences are limited to X2-specific seats that feature additional lateral support. Buyers can also opt for optional sports seats with even more bolstering and enhanced adjustability. Animal-free upholstery options will also be available for the all-new 2024 BMW X2.

BMW will show the second generation 2024 BMW X2 at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo on October 26, 2023.

The all-new 2024 BMW X2 is expected to launch in the US market in March 2024, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
