The forthcoming year of 2024 will be filled with exciting car launches. However, this particular list is for all of the new SUVs that will be making their debut in the country. The list includes SUVs from Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, MG, and a few others. Hyundai Creta EV
The Hyundai Creta EV is one of the most anticipated electric cars that will finally make its official debut next year. Most likely, it will be launched after the Creta facelift, and it will be based on that newly redesigned model. It is believed that the company, with the new Creta EV, will be replacing the unsuccessful Kona EV. As for the powertrain, it could come equipped with a front-mounted 100 kW electric motor that produces 136 bhp of power and 395 Nm of torque. Along with it, it could get a 39.2 kWh battery pack that offers a maximum driving range of 450 km, which is the exact same powertrain currently available with the Kona.
Mahindra Thar five-door
A number of people are waiting for the launch of the Mahindra Thar five-door, which most likely would be making its debut around June 2024. The five-door model will come with a new middle row seat along with exterior and interior upgrades to differentiate it from the three-door Thar. It will get a new grille, new alloy wheels, new infotainment, and a dashcam. Powertrain choices will remain the same as the Mahindra Thar three-door model, which will come available with 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engine options in the four-wheel-drive variants. The 1.5-litre diesel could also be offered.
Tata Curvv EV
One of the most ambitious and uniquely designed models by Tata Motors is the Curvv EV coupe SUV. It will be making its debut around the first quarter of next year. It will be based on Tata’s new Gen 2 project, and with the help of this technology, it will come with a range of around 500 kms. It will sit between the Tata Nexon EV and the Harrier EV, which will also be launched around 2025.
Tata Curvv ICE
A few months after the launch of the Curvv EV, the company will follow up with the launch of the new Curvv ICE. Most likely, the company will be offering this SUV with the 1.5-litre TGDi turbo petrol engine that was shown at the Auto Expo 2023 earlier this year. It will produce around 170 bhp of power and around 280 Nm of torque. Apart from this, the company could also offer the diesel engine from the outgoing Nexon facelift as well in an attempt to lure in more buyers.
Maruti Suzuki eVX
The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, will be entering the electric vehicle race with its mid-size eVX EV SUV. This SUV will be launched next year and will take on rivals like Harrier EV and Creta EV. It has been reported that the top-of-the-line variant of this EV SUV will come equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack, which will offer an impressive range of around 550 km.
MG Marvel X EV
Shown at the Auto Expo in 2020, it is believed that MG will finally be launching the new MG Marvel X EV in India next year. This compact EV SUV will sit above the MG ZS EV and will come with an electric motor that generates a maximum of 186 PS and peak torque of 410 Nm. Internationally sold as the Roewe Marvel X, it will come with high-end safety features, including high voltage circuit safety management program, IP67 waterproof battery, anti-intrusion protection, and more.
Force Gurkha five-door
To compete with the likes of the Mahindra Thar five-door and Jimny five-door, Force Motors will be launching a five-door Gurkha next year. This particular SUV has been spotted testing without any camouflage on numerous occasions in the country. It will become 400mm longer, and a set of doors will be added in the middle along with a middle row. As for the powertrain side of things, it will come with the same Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre four-litre diesel engine. This motor makes a maximum of 90 PS and 250 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Mahindra BE.05 EV
In December of 2024, Mahindra will be launching the first of its BE (Born Electric) range of EVs in India – the BE.05 EV SUV. This SUV has been spotted testing around Chennai on multiple occasions. It will be based on Mahindra’s brand-new INGLO EV skateboard platform. As per the reports, this EV SUV could come with an 80 kWh battery pack. According to Mahindra, it will deliver a driving range of approximately 435 km to 450 km under the WLTP cycle.
