AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said it was investigating the death of a 3-month-old infant as a homicide.
According to APD, around 11:15 p.m. March 10, first responders arrived at The Revl Apartments related to a 3-month-old infant who was not breathing.
APD said life-saving measures were performed, and the infant was taken to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment; however, the infant later died March 15.
This case is being investigated as Austin’s 12th homicide of 2024.
Police said during an investigation, detectives discovered evidence concerning the infant’s twin sister who appeared to have non-accidental injuries. According to APD, child abuse detectives then arrested and charged 31-year-old Brittney Alisha Bailey with injury to a child, a first-degree felony.
Attorney information for Bailey wasn’t listed in court records. This story will be updated if that information is available and we receive a statement.
APD asked for anyone with information to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
