14-year-old living in New Brunswick charged over threats made mid-December
Police in Thunder Bay, Ont. say another youth has been arrested in connection to threats made against St. Patrick High School in mid-December.
The threats led to the school being placed in lockdown, and then evacuated on Monday Dec. 11, Wednesday Dec. 13 and Friday Dec. 15.
Police say an investigation involving the cyber crime unit led them to the identification of a 14-year-old suspect, currently living in New Brunswick.
The youth was arrested by RCMP on Dec. 23 and is charged with three counts of mischief, three counts of public mischief and two counts of uttering threats. They’ve been released from custody with a future court date. Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
The incidents were part of a string of disruptions at the school, which received numerous threats in late November and December. While no one was harmed, the threats interrupted learning and took a toll on the school community.
Earlier this month, another youth was charged by police in relation to threats made on Dec. 12 and 13. Police said that suspect was not a student at the high school.
