While the Mercedes-AMG GLE53 is a popular car, only a few celebrities own it in India. In fact, before Saina Nehwal, only Sushmita Sen bought the SUV-Coupe and she was the first person to get the delivery of the car in India.
The performance SUV-Coupe boasts a distinctive and unique appearance, featuring a coupe roofline with the stance of an SUV. The all-new GLE Coupe AMG features a distinctive rear-end design with an integrated spoiler and a vertically stacked Panamericana grille. It also comes with 21-inch alloy wheels, turbo bashing on the front, and an AMG exhaust.
Inside the cabin, dual 12.3-inch displays mounted to the dashboard serve as an infotainment system and instrument cluster. The car also offers various AMG-specific changes, including a flat-bottom steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, and personalized upholstery options.

The Mercedes-AMG GLE53 is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder inline turbocharged petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system called EQ Boost, which produces a maximum power of 435 PS. The car also features 4Matic+ system and a 9-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to go from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and has a limited top speed of 249 km/h.
The SUV also features many AMG-specific upgrades, including a sportier air suspension set-up, active dampers, and upgraded brakes to handle the additional power. The unique Mercedes-AMG performance exhaust system allows the driver to choose the how much sound it should produce, and the Mercedes-Benz Active Ride Control system reduces body roll and improves the ride quality.
The car comes with several luxury features like a head-up display, a four-zone climate control system, a 13-speaker Burmester sound system, heated and ventilated front seats with memory function, and four-way lumbar support. It also features a wireless phone charger, 64 colours of ambient lighting, connected car tech like remote engine start, panoramic sunroof, and a powered tailgate. Mercedes-Benz also offers an add-on package with darkened elements to enhance the cabin’s appearance.
Saina drove BMWs before
Saina Nehwal received a BMW 3-Series from Sachin Tendulkar, who was the brand ambassador of the German car manufacturer in India after becoming the first Indian shuttler to make it to the Olympic Games podium. It was her first luxury car in 2012.
In 2018, she upgraded to a BMW X6. Saina Nehwal definitely loves SUVs and with this upgrade, she will enjoy the exclusive club as well.
